When Naicity blossoms

Beautiful jacaranda tree
Planted on a
Large field
Sprinkling flowers
Like a lilac carpet.

Beautiful
Tree that blossoms once.
Beautiful
Blossoms ,
Soft,
Jacaranda blossoms.

KIFF

29th Sept-5th Oct.The dates for this year’s Kenya International Film Festival .The Kenyan movie makers were able to have a screening for their efforts, with the best films having been chosen and screened at The Kenya National Theatre,Gothe Institute,Italian Institute of Culture and Alliance Francaise.I must say I was quite impressed.Even though I only watched a few, those were enough to convince me that the film industry is growing.
Riverwood,Big Ideas and Maisha are some of the film Companies that had their best leg forward, and many other individual producers like George King’ara{Gari Letu Manyanga).
I watched Manga in America,Extracts of me,Life in D Major,Help.
Malooned, by Bob Nyanja, however stole my whole being.I liked the play by Chris Bukeko as a Luhya watchman{Sijui kama ni ndoto ama ni keroro ile ya jana, ulikuwa umetota wapi?Nikilala naskia sauti, sauti, eeei, nitaenda nyumbani nikapande miwa.I don’t know if it’s a dream or it’s hallucinations from last night’s drink, where had you got it from?I keep hearing voices..this is too much,I’ll go back home and plant sugarcane)There was also a nice film from Congo DRC that had scratches but had a very good story line{Juju Factory}.And ‘Drum’ from South Africa caused several noses to be blown.I hope next year’s festival will take longer, like a month? If they asked me I’d suggest there be set up a place where people can watch Kenyan films at a low rate.Alliance, how about making Monday screenings Kenyan ?Although that’s not my suggestion,I borrowed it from Mo of Shika Hadithi Illustrators.
